Hello Everyone!! I am Bhawana a SharePoint MVP and having about 10+ years of SharePoint experience as well as in .Net technologies. I have worked in all the versions of SharePoint from wss to Office 365. I have good exposure in Customization and Migration using Nintex, Metalogix tools. Now exploring more in SharePoint 2016 🙂 Hope here I can contribute and share my knowledge to the fullest. As I believe “There is no wealth like knowledge and no poverty like ignorance”
SharePoint 2013 only partially works in Chrome, it will display pages but it will not open documents in their client application only in Browser view, it does not request user to check a document out when opening a document. The only browser I have found that all SharePoint functions work as advertised is in IE 11 which as of August of this 2021 is no longer supported by Microsoft. I have seen articles where you can add IE tab to Chrome, but that’s an add on to Chrome, all functions of SharePoint do not natively work out of box in Chrome or Edge Chromium. Also alot of companies do not allow third party add-ons in their corporate browsers like IE Tab which again forces users back to IE 11.
I have been trying to use Sharepoint from Linux using a recent firefox. Selecting sharepoint from the starting screen just redirects me to a non existing site. At first i suspected something like DNS over HTTPS but a decade old windows laptop, which predates this tech has no problems. Now i suspect itsa microsoft customer control tactic
Open in Explorer only works with ActiveX on premise. Waiting for a Html5 Solution
