This InfoPath 2013 SharePoint tutorial explains, how to publish InfoPath form to SharePoint 2013 form library or SharePoint list. Also, we will discuss how to customize SharePoint list form and library form using InfoPath designer 2013. Then we will also discuss how to publish the list form and library form to SharePoint 2016/2013.
Customize List form using InfoPath designer 2013 in SharePoint 2016
Now we will see how to customize list form using InfoPath designer 2013. Open InfoPath designer 2013. Select the “SharePoint List”. Click on “Design Form” which is presented in InfoPath Designer page.

Now we will get “Data Connection Wizard” page. This “Data Connection Wizard” is asking for SharePoint site URL in which site we want to customize the list Click on “Next”.

When we click on next we can able to see the “Windows Security” page. In the “Windows Security” page we can able to see the “Password” field. Give your “Password” and click on OK. Click on Next.

We can customize the list form by creating a new SharePoint List or Select the list name which is already existing in our site.
Customize an existing SharePoint List Form
Now we able to see two option in radio button format asking for you want to create a new SharePoint List or Customize an existing SharePoint 2016/2013 list. Here I have selected “Customize an existing SharePoint list” and select the list name in which we want to Customize the form Click on Next.

Here we can see “Advanced Options”. Under the “Advanced Options” we can see “Manage multiple list item with this form”. If you want to manage multiple list item in a single form then enable the checkbox. Here I do not want to manage multiple items in a single list so I didn’t enable the checkbox. Click on “Finish”.

Now we will get (Design)Form 1 page. The “Title” and “Attachments” field are by default field. We can attach more control and add a rule to customize the list form.

For publishing the Form design Click on “File” which is present on the right side corner of the designer form page.

Click on Publish. In the “Publish” page we can able to see “SharePoint List” and “Export Source Files“. Click on “SharePoint List”.

When we will see the below page that means our List form is Successfully Publish to my SharePoint list. We can directly open from “Open the SharePoint list in the browser”.

Now in our list when we want to add New item to our SharePoint list then we can able to see the form which we design using InfoPath designer 2013. When we click on Save then list item is saved to our SharePoint list.

In the below SharePoint list we can able to see our list item are added to our list.

Create a new SharePoint List form
Here I have selected the first option “Create a new SharePoint list”. When we select the “Create a new SharePoint list” the List Name field is enabled. Here we can give the list name. I gave the list name as “DemoListForEmployeeInformation”. Click on “Next”.

Now we can able to see Advanced Options. Under the Advanced Options, we can able to see “Manage multiple list items with this form”. When we want to”create a repeating field and add a repeating section to enable users to edit multiple list items in a single form” then enable the checkbox. Here I don’t want multiple list items in a single form. So I did not enable the checkbox. Click on Finish.

Now we can able to see our (Design)Form page. The Title and Attachments field is by default field. We can attach more control and rule to customize the form as per our requirement.

Then publish the list form to the SharePoint list. The same process can be followed to Publish the form which we are following to publish the existing SharePoint list.
We can directly go to SharePoint InfoPath designer page from our list. We can see the “Customize in InfoPath” in the ribbon option which is present under the “LIST”.
By clicking on “Customize in InfoPath” we can able to see Internet Explorer page which is asking for Allow or Cancel to open the website in Internet Explorer.


When clicking on Allow we can able to see Security page which is asking for Username and Password. Click on OK.

Now directly our SharePoint InfoPath designer page is opened.

Customize Library form using InfoPath designer 2013 and publish to SharePoint 2016
The below process can be followed to customize a SharePoint Library form and publish to SharePoint library.
Open Infopath designer page. Select the “SharePoint Library”. Click on “Design Form”.

I have design a form gave the name as “Employee Details”. I want to publish the form to “SharePoint site”.

To Publish the Library form to SharePoint Library Click on “File”. Select the “Publish” and Click on “Publish”. We can able to see “Quick Public”, “SharePoint Server”, “Email” and “Network”. Click on “SharePoint Server”.

When we Click on “SharePoint Server” it will ask to save the form in our local system. Here I have saved the library form in the local system.

Now we can able to see “Publishing Wizard” page. This “Publishing Wizard” will ask for “SharePoint site URL”. Here I have given the “SharePoint site URL”. Click on “Next”.

After clicking on Next we can able to see one more “Windows Security” page. Give the User Id and Password and Click on OK.

We can able to see the Form Library is selected this is by default. Click on Next.

After clicking on Next we can able to see two radio button to select.
- Create a new form library
- Update the form template in an existing form library.
In InfoPath whenever we select library form it always creates the form for form library which is by default.
Create a new form Library in SharePoint 2013

We select the New form library so it is asking for a new “Name” and “Description” for the “Form library”. Here I have given the “Form Library” name as “EmployeeDetails”. I gave the Description. Click on “Next”.

Now we will get below option. This Column option is for when we add the column name it will display in the SharePoint Form Library. Here I did not add the column name. Click on Next.

Here we can able to see Publish option. When we click on Publish our library form publish to SharePoint 2016.

When we open our Form Library in SharePoint site and add New item we can able to see the form which we create using SharePoint InfoPath designer.

Here I have added the item and click on Save. In the Form Library the item stored in “File”.

When we saved the item it is asking for Filename. Give the file name and click on Save.

We can notice item is saved as a file format. When we open the file we can able to see all the field item.

Update the form template in an existing form library:
Here I want to check the second option how to publish a customized Form Library form which already exists in SharePoint site.
I have created one more form using SharePoint InfoPath designer 2013 and publish to SharePoint site.

For publish the library form follow the above process to below page. Here select the second option “Update the form template in an existing form library” and Click on Next.

We can see Column Name. Here we can add the Column Name. The Column Name which we add here that will display in the SharePoint Form Library.

Here I have added field 1 and field 3. The Field1 and Field3 will display in the SharePoint form library. Click on Next

To verify the form information below page will come if everything is correct we will click on Publish.

When we open our Form library and click on Add new item we can able to see the form. The item whatever we wrote in the field that things are saved in a file format.

In the “EmployeeProfessionalInformation” list we can able to see the item are saved in file format and we can able to see the Field1 and Field3 column in the “EmployeeProfessionalInformation” list.
