Current User Filter Web Part in SharePoint 2016

What is a Current User Filter Web Part in SharePoint?

Current User Filter a type of filter which is used to allow the List of Libraries or document Libraries that have been added to the page to be filtered in SharePoint 2016.  So that they will only display the specific data for a specific current user.

In other words, simply a Current User Filter web part in SharePoint 2016 can be used to filter the data or records from the specific List or Library, so that the specific records will display to that particular current user only.

How to configure a Current User Filter Web Part in SharePoint?

To configure a Current User Filter Web Part in SharePoint, follow these below steps:

Step-1:-

First, create a List or Document Library in the SharePoint Site. Here I have created a document named “IT Documents” and uploaded some documents or files with different user id to there.

Here I want to choose the “Modified By” column should be a Current User Filter.

Step-2:-
Go to the Web Part Page which is present inside the “Files” option of a “Site Page”. Then click on to the “Add a Web Part” of any one of the columns whatever you want. Then it will show to choose the “Categories” and “Parts” as I have chosen the “Apps” and then “IT Documents” which I created before and then click on to “Add” for adding the Web Part.

Step-3:-
After adding the Web Part, here it will show the list named as “IT Documents” like as below screenshot.

Step-4:-
Again select the “Filters” option from “Categories” and then “Current User Filter” from the “Parts” and click on to “Add” for adding the Current User Filter Web Part.

Step-5:-
Here it will show the “Current User Filter” option like as below screenshot.

Step-6:-
Go to the “Filter” of “Header”. Then click on “.” An option which is present in the right side of “Current User Filter”. Go to the “connections”, then click on “Send Filter Values To” and “IT Documents” as below.

Step-7:-
After connecting, a message box will appear at the top of the page, here we have to select “Get Filter Values From” and then click on to “Configure” for configuring the Choice Filter.

Step-8:-
In this “Configure Connection”, choose the Choice Filter as “Modified By” and then click on to “Finish” for finishing the configuration as like below screenshot.

Step-9:-
Here it will show the “Sending values to: IT Documents” in the Current User Filter as like below.

How to give a Profile Value for Current User?

Step-1:-
Go to the “.” Symbol which is present on the right side of “Current User Filter”. Then go to the “Edit Web Part” as below.

Step-2:-
Here select value to provide the “SharePoint Profile Value for current user” and choose as “Name”, then go to “Apply” and “ok”.

Step-3:-
After “Stop Inheriting”, it will display like this below screenshot.

Step-4:-
Here if we will login by using one User Name, then the specific records or documents will display for that specific User only as I shown by “Preeti” is the one user and she will see her particular records only which I mentioned given below.

Step-5:-
Similarly, if we will login by using another User Name, then the specific records or documents will display for that specific User only as I shown by “Bijay K. Sahoo” is the one user and he will see his particular records only which I mentioned given below.
